QUICK LINKS

N,N′-Methylenebis-Acrylamide (bis-Acrylamide) is used in the preparation of polyacrylamide gels for electrophoretic separation of nucleic acids and proteins. The ability to control the density of the cross-linking provides a means to tailor the pore size of the gel, making it possible to optimize the separation efficiency for different molecular weights and sizes of biomolecules. In material science, the cross-linked polyacrylamide gels find applications in the development of soft materials with specific mechanical properties, such as hydrogels that can absorb and retain significant amounts of water. These hydrogels are utilized in a variety of fields. Recommended for use with Acrylamide Solution, 40% (sc-3721). Acrylamide forms linear polymers.
