N,N′-Dibenzylphthalamide, also known as DBP, is a chemical compound belonging to the phthalamide family. It is used in a variety of applications, including as a reagent in organic synthesis, a catalyst in polymerization reactions, a chelating agent in metal-catalyzed reactions, an inhibitor of certain enzymes, a ligand in coordination chemistry, and an additive in pharmaceuticals. It is a reversible inhibitor of serine proteases, cytochrome P450, and dihydrofolate reductase. N,N′-Dibenzylphthalamide has also been found to modulate the activity of certain hormones, such as cortisol and testosterone. In addition, it may act to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
