Nonyl β-D-glucopyranoside is a nonionic surfactant found to be useful for the solubilization and crystallization of a large number of biological membrane proteins. It has been used to assess the structure and molecular fluctuations of n-alkyl-β-d-glucopyranoside micelles. It has also been used to investigate enantiomer separation of drugs by micellar electrokinetic chromatography.
