N-Nitroso-N,N-di(3,5,5-trimethylhexyl)amine, also known as BTMHN or N,N-Bis(3,5,5-trimethylhexyl)nitrous amide, is a nitrous amide compound used in scientific research to study the effects of nitrous amides on biochemical and physiological processes. This colorless and odorless liquid is soluble in organic solvents and has a boiling point of 112°C and a melting point of -72°C. The mechanism of action of N-Nitroso-N,N-di(3,5,5-trimethylhexyl)amine is thought to cause a conformational change in enzymes and proteins by binding to their active site and altering their activity and function, respectively.
