N-Methyl-1H-imidazole-4-ethanamine dihydrochloride is a potent histamine receptor agonist, especially at Histamine H3 receptors (potency relative to histamine is 81, 185, and 270% at Histamine H1, Histamine H2 and Histamine H3 respectively). Displays agonist properties at Histamine H4 receptors to which it binds with moderate affinity (Ki = 23 nM).
