N-Hexane is a non-polar hydrocarbon. It is used as a solvent in a variety of industrial and commercial applications, including the extraction of oils from seeds and grains, the manufacture of adhesives and rubber, and the production of certain types of plastics. N-Hexane is also found in some consumer products, such as paint thinners and nail polish removers. In addition, it is utilized in scientific research as a solvent for compounds like oils, fats, waxes, and resins and for extracting bioactive elements from plants such as flavonoids and terpenoids. Moreover, it is employed to separate proteins from mixtures and to investigate the influence of lipids on cell membranes.
