QUICK LINKS

N-Heptanoylglycine is a member of the family of N-acylglycines, which are endogenous lipid mediators that play a role in various physiological processes. It acts through several pathways, including the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) and the inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression. PPARγ is a nuclear receptor that plays a role in glucose and lipid metabolism, while COX-2 is an enzyme that plays a role in inflammation and cancer. N-Heptanoylglycine may act to improve glucose tolerance, insulin sensitivity, and lipid metabolism, as well as inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
