N-decanoyl-L-Homoserine lactone, also known as N-[(3s)-2-Oxotetrahydrofuran-3-Yl]decanamide or OTHF-Decanamide, is a variant of decanamide. It serves as a tool in studying the influence of fatty acids on cell membranes and as a probe for investigating protein-lipid interactions. Additionally, it is used to examine the effects of fatty acids on cell signaling and to investigate the biochemical and physiological impacts of fatty acids. OTHF-Decanamide is thought to interact with cell membranes through hydrophobic interactions. It is believed to interact with proteins within the membrane, potentially influencing the functioning of these proteins and the overall cell membrane.
