N-Arachidonoyl-serotonin is a selective FAAH (fatty acid amid hydrolase) and VR1 (transient receptor potential vanilloid-1, TRPV1) channel inhibitor. TRPV1 is a Capsaicin (sc-3577) receptor, which behaves as a non-selective cation channel and are mainly found in the sensory neurons that detect painful stimuli. The compound may act to be inactive against cPLA2 and CB1. Rat brain studies suggests that N-Arachidonoyl-serotonin acts as an enhancer of endocannabinoid levels, and increases the levels of anadamide and 2-AG (sc-200794).
