N-Acetyl-L-alanine is the N-acetylated form of L-alanine and is a nonessential amino acid. It is a white powder, soluble in water and various polar solvents. It bears biological preoperties similar to L-alanine, used as a substrate for the synthesis of proteins and exhibiting the capacity to inhibit p21 and epidermal growth factor.
