N-acetyl-DL-leucine, also known as Acetylleucine (Ace-Leu), is a synthetic amino acid derived from leucine that has undergone extensive research. Its versatility as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent in vitro has led to investigations into its efficacy against cancer, inflammation, diabetes, and neurological disorders. N-acetyl-DL-leucine exhibits a wide range of biological activities, including anti-tumor, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral effects in vitro. Numerous studies have explored its potential of reducing inflammation, promoting wound healing, and improving glucose metabolism. Additionally, N-acetyl-DL-leucine has shown remarkable biological activities, encompassing anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and anti-fibrotic effects. N-acetyl-DL-leucine functions as an inhibitor of NF-kB, a transcription factor associated with inflammation. Furthermore, it may modulate the activity of other transcription factors such as AP-1 and STAT3. Studies have also shown that N-acetyl-DL-leucine can diminish the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α and IL-6.
