Myelin basic protein (4-14), N-acetylated is a section of the myelin basic protein surrounding Ser(8), residues 4-14, that is a specific substrate of PKC alpha, PKC beta, and PKC gamma, and is a poor substrate for PKA, CaMKII, CKI, CKII, and phosphorylase kinase. This sequence, Ac-QKRPSQRSKYL, is resistant to phosphatases in brain hippocampal extracts and therefore is a good substrate for use in crude extracts.
