SEE ALSO...

Musculin Antibody (4D7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects musculin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-musculin antibody (4D7) is available as the non-conjugated format. Musculin plays a crucial role in the regulation of myogenic differentiation, acting as a transcriptional repressor that modulates the activity of other myogenic factors such as Myo D. This regulation ensures proper timing of muscle-specific gene expression during myogenesis, allowing for the transition from undifferentiated myoblasts to fully differentiated muscle fibers. Musculin forms heterodimers with E family bHLH proteins, which are essential for binding to E box motifs in promoter regions of muscle-specific genes. Through this mechanism, musculin can inhibit transcriptional activation induced by Myo D, thereby delaying expression of muscle-specific genes until appropriate stages of differentiation. Expression of musculin remains notably high in undifferentiated and proliferating myoblasts, but decreases as myogenesis progresses, highlighting musculin′s importance in early stages of muscle development.
