Muscle Actin Antibody (5G2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b light chain antibody that detects Muscle Actin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Muscle Actin antibody (5G2) plays a crucial role in studying the actin cytoskeleton, which is essential for various cellular functions, including maintaining cell shape, enabling motility, and facilitating intracellular transport. Muscle Actin is a highly conserved protein that exists in multiple isoforms, being specifically associated with muscle tissue, where it forms the contractile apparatus necessary for muscle contraction. The dynamic nature of actin filaments allows rapid assembly and disassembly, which is vital for muscle function and overall cellular integrity. Additionally, Muscle Actin interacts with proteins like tropomyosin and myosin, which are critical for muscle contraction and regulation. Understanding the interactions and functions of Muscle Actin is important for elucidating mechanisms underlying muscle development and pathologies, such as muscular dystrophies. Muscle Actin (5G2) antibody serves as an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the complexities of muscle biology and actin dynamics.

Can sc-71626: Muscle Actin (5G2) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-71626: Muscle Actin (5G2) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
