Muscimol Biotin functions as a potent and selective agonist for GABAA receptors. It acts by binding to the GABAA receptor and activating the chloride ion channel, leading to hyperpolarization of the cell membrane. This hyperpolarization inhibits the firing of action potentials in the postsynaptic neuron, resulting in an inhibitory effect on neurotransmission. Muscimol Biotin′s mechanism of action involves modulating the inhibitory neurotransmission mediated by GABA. By targeting and activating GABAA receptors, Muscimol Biotin can be used to study the physiological and pharmacological effects of GABAergic neurotransmission in experimental models.
