QUICK LINKS

Muristerone A is a phytoecdysteroid analog of ecdysone which induces genes in mammalian cells and causes apoptosis in cells transfected with wild-type Bax. Studies indicate that Muristerone A regulates the metamorphosis of Drosophila melanogaster, while causing a response to G2 cell cycle arrest. Ecdysone is a major molting hormone in some insects and has protective effects in plants. Muristerone A is a useful compound in regulating the effects of ecdysone in these various phyla.
