Mucin 7 Antibody (1C10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Mucin 7 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Mucin 7 antibody (1C10) is available as a non-conjugated format. Mucin 7, also known as MG2 or mucin glycoprotein 2, plays a crucial role in forming protective mucosal barriers, essential for maintaining epithelial surface integrity and preventing pathogen invasion. This low-molecular-mass salivary mucin is secreted as a soluble monomer and primarily expressed in human submandibular and sublingual secretions, as well as in mucous acinar cells. Mucin 7′s ability to bind various microbes is vital for immune defense, and this interaction is facilitated by a cysteine-containing domain located in the N-terminal region of MUC7. MUC7 expression is selectively observed in bladder cancer cell lines and samples of invasive transitional cell carcinomas, indicating potential use as a biomarker for malignant transformation in bladder urothelium. MUC7 expression is regulated by retinoic acid and thyroid hormones, highlighting hormonal control over mucin gene expression and implications in various epithelial cancers.
