SEE ALSO...

Mucin 3 Antibody (M3.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the Mucin 3 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-Mucin 3 antibody (M3.1) is available as a non-conjugated format. Mucin 3, also known as mucin 3A, plays a crucial role in forming protective mucus layers in various tissues, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract, where Mucin 3 contributes to the maintenance of epithelial integrity and barrier function. Mucin 3 is essential for trapping pathogens and particulates, thereby preventing infections and inflammation. Mucin 3 expression is not only vital for normal physiological processes but also has implications in disease states, as aberrant Mucin 3 expression has been linked to various cancers, including colorectal cancer. The structure of Mucin 3, characterized by its highly glycosylated nature and the presence of variable number tandem repeats (VNTRs), allows Mucin 3 to interact with other proteins and cells, enhancing its protective functions. Mucin 3 monoclonal antibody (M3.1) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the role of mucins in health and disease, providing insights into their function and potential as therapeutic targets.

I am using Mucin 3 (M3.1): sc-7315 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: jerojero
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
