MsrB2 Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects MsrB2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MsrB2 (B-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MsrB2 protein, also known as methionine sulfoxide reductase B2, CBS1, MSRB, PILB, CBS-1, or CGI-131, is a 182 amino acid mitochondrial protein that plays a crucial role in cellular defense against oxidative stress. MsrB2 protein is involved in the reduction of methionine sulfoxide back to methionine, thereby maintaining the redox balance within cells. This function is particularly important as methionine is one of the most readily oxidized essential amino acids, and its oxidative state can lead to cellular damage if not properly regulated. MsrB2 protein′s ability to reduce oxidized methionine not only helps preserve mitochondrial integrity but also contributes to overall cell survival by mitigating the accumulation of reactive oxygen species. Additionally, MsrB2 protein utilizes zinc ions as cofactors, which are essential for enzymatic activity, further underscoring the importance of metal ion homeostasis in cellular processes.
