MsrA Antibody (1C8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MsrA protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by immunoprecipitation (IP) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MsrA antibody (1C8) is available as a non-conjugated format. MsrA, or methionine sulfoxide reductase A, plays a crucial role in cellular defense against oxidative stress by catalyzing the reduction of oxidized methionine residues, which are particularly vulnerable to damage from reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as hydrogen peroxide and superoxide ions. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining protein function and cellular integrity, especially in tissues highly susceptible to oxidative damage, such as brain and liver. MsrA is widely expressed across various species, including humans, and is found in high concentrations in liver, kidney, and immune cells, highlighting MsrA importance in both metabolic and immune responses. MsrA activity has been shown to decrease in brains of individuals with Alzheimer′s disease, suggesting a protective role against neurodegeneration. MsrA ability to restore oxidized methionine residues not only aids in protein repair but also enhances cellular resilience to oxidative stress, making MsrA a significant target for research into age-related diseases and potential therapeutic interventions.
