MRP-L12 Antibody (397.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MRP-L12 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MRP-L12 Antibody (397.1) is available as the non-conjugated anti-MRP-L12 antibody (397.1). MRP-L12 protein, also known as mitochondrial ribosomal protein L12, plays a crucial role in mitochondrial protein synthesis, which is essential for maintaining cellular energy production and overall cellular function. Located within the mitochondria, MRP-L12 is vital for the assembly of the mitochondrial ribosome, where MRP-L12 contributes to the translation of mitochondrial mRNAs. This process is particularly important because mitochondria are responsible for generating ATP through oxidative phosphorylation, and any impairment in MRP-L12 can lead to reduced cell growth rates and decreased ATP production. Notably, MRP-L12 is cleaved during translocation across the mitochondrial membrane and forms dimers that associate with the large ribosomal subunit, highlighting MRP-L12′s structural significance in ribosome assembly. With a length of 198 amino acids, MRP-L12 belongs to the ribosomal protein L12P family and is highly expressed in the colon, indicating MRP-L12′s potential involvement in tissue-specific mitochondrial functions.

Can sc-100839: MRP-L12 (397.1) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100839: MRP-L12 (397.1) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
