QUICK LINKS

mpV(pic) is a protein Cdc25C (phosphotyrosine phosphatase) inhibitor and insulin receptor kinase (IRK) activator. mpV(pic) displays a distinct preference for dephosphorylating the insulin receptor rather than the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It promotes glycogen synthesis. mpV(pic) also functions as a tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor, influencing the regulatory mechanisms of cell volume in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells (EATC) through its effect on the TASK-2 channel. It shifts the volume set point for the inactivation of TASK-2 to a lower cell volume, thereby affecting the swelling-activated K(+) efflux. mpV(pic) enhances the volume-sensitive part of the K(+) efflux, playing a role in the regulation of cell volume decrease following hypotonic exposure, which is an essential cellular process indicating mpV(pic)′s potential in modulating ion channel activity and cell volume regulation mechanisms.
