QUICK LINKS

MPEP hydrochloride is a potent and selective antagonist of the mGluR5 receptor (metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype 5). MPEP hydrochloride positively modulates the hmGluR4 in a recombinant expression system, and the effect of MPEP hydrochloride is fully dependent on the activation of the orthosteric agonist L-AP4. MPEP hydrochloride reduces DHPG-induced excitations but not the excitations induced by AMPA. MPEP hydrochloride is an activator of mGluR-4.
