Mosxe Antibody (S3.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Mos p39 protein of x origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Mos protein, a cellular homolog of the v-Mos oncogene derived from the Moloney strain murine sarcoma virus, plays a crucial role in regulating meiosis in vertebrate oocytes. Mos p39 is encoded by a single exon within the c-Mos proto-oncogene locus, identified in various species, including humans, mice, chickens, and Xenopus. Mos p39 functions during oocyte maturation by stabilizing or activating the maturation promoting factor (MPF) complex, a key regulator of the cell cycle. While Mos p39 expression remains low in somatic cells, Mos p39 levels increase significantly in germ cells, highlighting a specialized role in reproductive biology. When ectopically expressed during the G1 phase of the cell cycle, Mos p39 can induce oncogenic transformation in somatic cells, underscoring potential implications in cancer biology. Mos p39 activates the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, likely through direct phosphorylation of MAPKK MEK-1, further illustrating critical involvement in cellular signaling pathways.
