Monoisobutyl Phthalate (MIBP) is a Phthalate metabolite used in plastics and other industrial applications. It is an inhibitor of enzymes, such as phosphatases and proteases. It is also known to bind to proteins, such as albumin, and to interact with lipids, such as cholesterol and phospholipids. In addition, Monoisobutyl Phthalate may act to affect the activity of certain hormones, including testosterone and estradiol, and to affect the activity of certain neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine. It is used in many scientific research applications, such as in the study of enzyme kinetics, protein structure, and drug delivery. It is also utilized in the production of polymer-based materials, as a solvent in liquid chromatography, and as a plasticizer.
