QUICK LINKS

Molindone Hydrochloride is a D2DR inhibitor and a MAO inhibitor. Molindone is a dihydroindolone compound. Molindone hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of molindone. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve antagonistic activity on D2S, D2L, D5 dopamine, and 5-HT2B serotonin receptors. Molindone hydrochloride at a concentration of 10^-4 M or greater has been found to inhibit the enzyme cardiac adenylate cyclase. Molindone hydrochloride has been found to decrease tryptamine binding sites. Molindone hydrochloride binds more selectively to dopamine receptors than tryptamine or 5-HT receptors. Further more, molindone hydrochloride inhibits type A monoamine oxidase, leading to a substantial increase in the endogenous accumulation rate of tryptamine, significantly surpassing those of dopamine and 5-HT.
