MOAP1 Antibody (MOAP-1-N) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MOAP1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MOAP1, or modulator of apoptosis 1, is a crucial 352 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene MOAP1, belonging to the PNMA family. MOAP1 plays a vital role in regulating apoptosis, particularly in death receptor-dependent pathways, which are essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing uncontrolled cell proliferation. MOAP1 contains a BH3-like domain and a RASSF1-binding domain, which are integral to function. When associated with RASSF1 isoform A, MOAP1 undergoes a conformational change that facilitates the translocation of Bax to mitochondrial membranes, a critical step in the apoptotic process triggered by tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and TNFSF10 stimulation. Under normal conditions, MOAP1 exists as a homo-dimer in an inactive state due to intramolecular interactions, but binding to RASSF1A alleviates this inhibition, allowing MOAP1 to interact with pro-apoptotic proteins such as Bax, Bcl-2, and Bcl-x. The ability of MOAP1 to modulate these interactions underscores importance in apoptosis regulation and highlights potential as a target for therapeutic interventions in diseases characterized by dysregulated apoptosis.
