MnTMPyP pentachloride is a cell-permeable, manganese-porphyrin which acts as a superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimetic and peroxynitrite scavenger. It has displayed the ability to catalyze the dismutation of O2-, even in the presence of excess EDTA. MnTMPyP pentachloride also displays a protective effect against H2O2-mediated injury in astroglial cells.
