SEE ALSO...

MIST1 Antibody (6E8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MIST1 of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-MIST1 antibody (6E8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MIST1, also known as muscle, intestine, and stomach expression 1 or BHLHB8, is a 189 amino acid nuclear protein predominantly expressed in the liver, brain, skeletal muscle, and spleen. MIST1 features a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain, which is crucial for its role as a transcription factor. The bHLH domain allows MIST1 to bind to E-box motifs in the promoter or enhancer regions of various developmentally regulated genes, functioning as either a transcriptional activator or repressor. MIST1 interacts with E-proteins such as E12 and E47, and plays a significant role in regulating the transcriptional activity of MyoD, a key protein in muscle cell development. By acting as a repressor of MyoD activity, MIST1 ensures that myoblast populations remain undifferentiated, which is vital for muscle development. MIST1 is essential for the regulation of mammary gland development, highlighting its importance in both muscle and epithelial cell differentiation processes.
