MG 624 is a neuronal AChR alpha7 antagonist. MG 624 inhibits alpha-Bgtx binding to chick alpha7 and alpha4beta2 subtypes. MG 624 is a selective antagonist of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) with a high affinity for α7 subunit-containing nAChRs. It inhibits acetylcholine-induced currents and shows selectivity for α7 subunit-containing nAChRs over other subunits. MG 624 demonstrates a decrease in vagus nerve stimulation-induced contractions and reduces protein levels of early growth response gene 1 (Egr-1) in human microvascular endothelial cells. It also exhibits anti-proliferative and anti-angiogenic effects in vitro, ex vivo, and in a small cell lung cancer mouse model.
