Meso-Tetraphenylporphyrin iron(III) chloride complex is a reagent used to catalyze the silylation of hydroxyl groups by hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) at room temperature. It has shown to be sensitive to changes in pH due to its low detection limit. It can also be used for quantitative analysis of hydrogen peroxide in solutions. Meso-Tetraphenylporphyrin iron(III) chloride complex can be used, along with Cameroonian smectite clay, to modify glassy carbon electrodes that are used in the quantification of ascorbic acid, uric acid, and nitrite acid simultaneously.
