QUICK LINKS

Menaquinone-1 is composed of a ring of 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinione and one isoprenyl group in its side chain. Menaquinones consist of varying numbers of isoprene residues in its side chain and are produced by bacteria. Menaquinone-1, in cell culture studies, has been employed as an antioxidant, showcasing its ability to counteract oxidative stress. Notably, in vitro experiments have revealed its potential to impede the release of inflammatory mediators, including TNF-α and IL-1β.
