Melamine-15N3 is a stable labeled analogue of Melamine (sc-211785). Melamine-15N3 is a versatile chemical compound extensively used across various products. It serves as a flame retardant, plasticizer, and plays a role in polyurethane foam production. Additionally, melamine′s nitrogen content is harnessed for the synthesis of melamine-formaldehyde resin and melamine-urea resins. To enable accurate quantification of melamine concentrations in urine and tissue samples using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), the 15N3 isotope is introduced into melamine molecules. This isotopic labeling facilitates the differentiation between natural and synthetic sources of melamine. The employed LC-MS/MS method utilizes an acidic mobile phase and a linear calibration curve, ensuring quantitative analysis. To rectify matrix effects, hydrochloric acid is utilized as a volatile ionization reagent. Notably, the technique exhibits a detection limit of 0.1 µg/mL, providing sensitive detection capabilities.
