Medroxyprogesterone-d3 is a progestin. Medroxyprogesterone-d3 acts by binding to and activating the progesterone receptor, leading to the inhibition of ovulation and alteration of cervical mucus and endometrium. Medroxyprogesterone-d3′s mechanism of action involves the suppression of gonadotropin secretion, which in turn prevents follicular maturation and ovulation. Medroxyprogesterone-d3′s progestational activity also plays a role in the maintenance of pregnancy and the prevention of endometrial hyperplasia.
