Meclizine-d8 Dihydrochloride is a labeled form of Meclizine Dihydrochloride (sc-211779), which functions as an antagonist at H1 receptors. It is known that Meclizine-d8 Dihydrochloride is similar in structure to Buclizine Dihydrochloride (sc-210969), cyclizine, and Hydroxyzine Dihydrochloride (sc-205716), but has a shorter half-life. In addition, Meclizine-d8 Dihydrochloride acts as an anticholinergic agent. Alternate studies suggest that Meclizine-d8 Dihydrochloride binds to the human pregnane X receptor (hPXR), which in turn recruits coactivator-1 to the receptor. Also Meclizine-d8 Dihydrochloride increases CYP3A4 gene expression, while decreasing the activity of testosterone 6β-hydroxylation which is catalyzed by the enzyme CYP3A.
