MECA-79 Antibody (MECA-79) is a rat monoclonal IgM antibody that detects MECA-79 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry (FCM). MECA-79 (MECA-79) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MECA-79 protein is a carbohydrate epitope found on a family of sialomucins known as peripheral node addressins (PNAds), which play a crucial role in the immune response by facilitating lymphocyte homing to peripheral lymph nodes. This process is vital for lymphocyte localization, allowing effective responses to inflammation and other immune challenges. MECA-79 epitope specifically binds to CD62L, a key adhesion molecule that mediates rolling and tethering of leukocytes on endothelium of high endothelial venules (HEVs) in lymphoid tissues.
