QUICK LINKS

MDL 72527 is a naturally occurring compound that acts as an inhibitor of polyamine oxidase (PAO), an enzyme responsible for the oxidation of polyamines. Does not inhibit monoamine oxidase or D-Amino acid oxidase. In addition, this compound triggers apoptosis by disrupting the mitochondrial membrane potential. Studies have demonstrated its superior potency compared to protocatechuic acid, and extended exposure to cells can result in irreversible inhibition.
