MCT13 Antibody (D-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MCT13 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MCT13 (D-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MCT13, also known as SLC16A13, is a 426 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by facilitating the transport of monocarboxylates, such as lactate and pyruvate, across the plasma membrane. This transport is vital because lactic acid, produced during glycolysis, can accumulate and lower intracellular pH, inhibiting glycolysis and ATP production. MCT13 functions as a proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter, ensuring that lactate is efficiently removed from the cell to maintain metabolic homeostasis and support continued energy production. The ability of MCT13 to transport L-lactate is particularly important in tissues with high metabolic demands, such as muscle and brain, where rapid shifts in energy substrates are necessary during periods of intense activity or stress.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-377128 P appropriate for?

    Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
