SEE ALSO...

MBD2 Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MBD2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MBD2 (C-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MBD2 plays a crucial role in gene expression regulation through DNA methylation, a key epigenetic modification that influences transcriptional activity. MBD2 binds to methylated DNA, particularly at CpG sites, and recruits histone deacetylases, which contribute to transcription repression. This function maintains cellular identity and regulates developmental processes, as DNA methylation pattern abnormalities can lead to various diseases, including cancer. MBD2 belongs to a larger family of methyl-CpG binding proteins, including MBD1, MBD3, MBD4, and MeCP2, which interact with methylated DNA and contribute to gene silencing. MBD proteins show notable expression in somatic tissues, highlighting their significance in tissue-specific gene regulation.

I am using MBD2 (C-11): sc-514062 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: cjMara
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
