Maleimide-PEG2-NHS is a heterobifunctional amine- and sulfhydryl-reactive crosslinker with a 17.6 angstrom ethylene oxide spacer arm. Maleimide-PEG2-NHS is a chemical compound used in bioconjugation and protein labeling applications. It is a derivative of polyethylene glycol (PEG) that contains a maleimide functional group and an N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester. The maleimide group selectively reacts with sulfhydryl (-SH) groups of cysteine residues in proteins, allowing for site-specific conjugation. The NHS ester enhances the reactivity of the maleimide group towards primary amines, enabling the coupling of proteins or other molecules containing primary amines.
