Mael Antibody (H-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Mael protein of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Mael (H-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mael protein, consisting of 434 amino acids, is crucial for spermatogenesis and is specifically expressed in testicular tissue, where Mael protein plays a vital role in maintaining germline integrity by repressing the mobilization of transposable elements. This repression is essential for preventing genomic instability, which can lead to infertility and other reproductive issues. Mael protein is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm and contains a high mobility group (HMG) box DNA-binding domain, which is important for interaction with other proteins such as Ini1, mSin3B, and VASA. The gene encoding Mael protein is located on human chromosome 1, a region that spans 260 million base pairs and contains over 3,000 genes, many of which are associated with various diseases, including familial adenomatous polyposis and Parkinson′s disease. Aberrations in chromosome 1 are also implicated in several cancers, highlighting the importance of understanding Mael protein function and regulation in both normal physiology and disease contexts.
