m-Imodobenzylguanidine is a norephinephrine analog anti-tumor agent. Has shown anti-tumor effects on L1210 leukemia and N1E1115 neuroblastoma. Blocks ADP-ribosylation-dependent signal transduction pathways. m-Iodobenzylguanidine hemisulfate salt is structurally similar to norepinephrine and is selectively taken up by adrenergic tissue. The guanidine group in m-Iodobenzylguanidine hemisulfate salt mimics the guanidinium group of norepinephrine, facilitating its uptake by norepinephrine transporters which are prevalently expressed in certain neuroendocrine cells. This property allows m-Iodobenzylguanidine hemisulfate salt to accumulate in adrenergic tissues.
