M-ficolin Antibody (036-05-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects M-ficolin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-M-ficolin antibody (036-05-1) is available as the non-conjugated format. M-ficolin, also known as ficolin-A, ficolin-1, ficolin-α, FCN1, FCNM, or collagen/fibrinogen domain containing protein 1, is a 326 amino acid member of the ficolin lectin family, characterized by a short N-terminus, one collagen-like domain, and one fibrinogen-like domain at C-terminus. M-ficolin (FCN1) plays a crucial role in innate immune response, primarily functioning as a pattern recognition molecule that identifies and binds to specific carbohydrate structures on pathogens, thereby facilitating their clearance. M-ficolin is predominantly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes and is secreted into plasma, where M-ficolin interacts with elastin, carbohydrates, and corticosteroids. Notably, M-ficolin exists as a homopolymer through intermolecular disulfide bonding, which is essential for lectin activity, as M-ficolin activates complement pathways via association with mannan-binding lectin serine proteases (MASPs) and specific carbohydrate ligands. M-ficolin′s ability to recognize and bind to various ligands underscores FCN1′s importance in modulating immune responses and maintaining homeostasis in the human body.
