LY 456236 hydrochloride is a selective mGluR-1a (mGluR-1) antagonist (IC50 values are 143 nM and > 10 μM for mGluR-1 and mGluR-5 respectively). mGluR (Metabotropic glutamate receptors) are divided group I, group II, and group III. Group I receptors are coupled to Gq/11 and are activators of phospholipase C.
