Luminol sodium salt is a chemical that exhibits chemiluminescence. When mixed with the appropriate oxidizing agent, Luminol sodium salt will have a striking blue glow. Luminol sodium salt is used for chemiluminescence analysis of metal cations, blood and glucococorticoids. This makes Luminol sodium salt an option for crime scene investigation, to detect traces of blood, iron, and hemoglobin. Sensitive ELISA assays are able to be performed with Luminol sodium salt. Luminol sodium salt is also in vivo to picture myeloperoxidase activity.
