LTA3 (Leukotriene A3 methyl ester) is a member of the leukotrienes which are potent, arachidonic acid-derived eicosanoid lipid mediators. Leukotrienes have demonstrated to play numerous roles in inflammation, immunological functions and maintaining biological homeostasis. Leukotrienes primarily act through specific G protein-coupled receptors. LTA3 (Leukotriene A3 methyl ester) is an analogue of LTA4 that lacks a C14-C15 double bond. The compound has been observed as a potent suicide inhibitor of LTA4H (LTA4 hydrolase). It has been synthesized from Mead acid (sc-200772) via 5-lipoxygenase. The compound has also been observed to be inhibit rat and human neutrophil LTA4H (LTA4 hydrolases).
