QUICK LINKS

Levonorgestrel is a synthetic progestin that binds to progesterone and androgen receptors but not the estrogen receptor. Induces apoptosis in ovarian epithelium cells. Levonorgestrel functions by attaching itself to progesterone receptors within the body, thereby obstructing the activities of other hormones. Furthermore, it exhibits anti-estrogenic properties, enabling it to hinder the effects of estrogen. Additionally, it possesses anti-androgenic characteristics, enabling it to impede the actions of androgens.
