LAP2 Antibody (3A3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects LAP2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-LAP2 antibody (3A3) is available as the non-conjugated format. LAP2, also known as thymopoietin, plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of the nuclear envelope, which is essential for proper cellular function. Located within the nuclear envelope, LAP2 interacts with chromatin and the nuclear lamina, contributing to the organization and stability of the nucleus. LAP2 features a unique amino-terminal domain that allows DNA binding, and contains the LAP2-emerin-MAN1 (LEM) motif, which is important for interactions with other nuclear proteins. Alternative splicing of LAP2 results in several isoforms, including LAP2α and LAP2β, which have distinct functions; LAP2α associates with the internal nucleoskeleton and binds to lamin A, while LAP2β interacts with lamin B and chromosomal barrier-to-autointegration factor (BAF), suggesting a role in chromatin stabilization. The gene encoding human LAP2 is located on chromosome 12q23.1, highlighting its significance in genomic organization and cellular architecture.
