Laminin-R Antibody (MLuC5) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Laminin-R in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Laminin-R, also known as colon carcinoma laminin-binding protein, plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and migration, which are essential processes in tissue development and repair, as well as in cancer metastasis. Laminin-R is characterized by its heterodimeric structure, which is similar to that of other extracellular matrix protein receptors, such as fibronectin and vitronectin. The incorporation of Laminin-R into lysosomal membranes facilitates the attachment of lysosomes to surfaces coated with laminin, highlighting Laminin-R′s importance in cellular interactions and signaling pathways. Notably, Laminin-R expression is significantly upregulated in aggressive carcinomas, particularly in colon cancer, where Laminin-R is found at nine-fold higher levels compared to adjacent normal colonic epithelium. This upregulation suggests that Laminin-R may serve as a potential biomarker for cancer progression and a target for therapeutic intervention. Additionally, the precursor of Laminin-R, identified as p40 ribosome-associated protein, is involved in the translational machinery, further underscoring Laminin-R′s multifunctional nature in cellular processes.

Hello, Is there azide or other type of preservative mixed with MLuC5 (sc-59732)? Thanks.

Asked by: Rutdol
Thank you for your question. Yes, each vial contains 200 µg IgM kappa light chain in 1.0 ml of PBS with < 0.1% sodium azide and 0.1% gelatin.

Can Laminin-R (MLuC5): sc-59732 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Laminin-R (MLuC5): sc-59732 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
