Lactobionic acid is an inhibitor of MMP. It is a type of organic acid derived from lactose. It act as an antioxidant and has moisturizing, exfoliating, chelating, and antibiotic properties. Lactobionic acid has been used to modify the surface of biomaterials used in tissue engineering applications. This modification can improve cell adhesion and proliferation, leading to better tissue regeneration.
